Post COVID-19 Economic Recovery Event for Subclass 408 Visa

The government has introduced a new stream for the 408 visa, the ‘Post COVID-19 economic recovery event’.  This new stream was launched by the Department on 27 February 2021 through Instrument (LIN 21/008) 2021. The purpose of the stream is to support recovery from the economic effects of COVID-19 in Australia. In order to be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:
  • employed full time as an essential staff member of an overseas business that:
    • is relocating to Australia; and
    • will assist in Australia’s response to the event; and
  • will assist with the establishment of the business’s operation in Australia; and
  • make an application for a subclass 408 visa between 27 February 2021 and 30 June 2022; and
  •  have not previously been granted a visa in accordance with this instrument.
You must be endorsed in writing by your employer as a key member of staff required to assist with the relocation of their business to Australia. Your employer must have been approved for coordinated facilitation from the Australian Government’s Global Business and Talent Attraction Taskforce.
