Australia has signed two new reciprocal Work and Holiday arrangements with Brazil and Mongolia. This arrangement commences on 1 July 2022 and will allow up to 500 young Brazilians and 100 young Mongolians each year to enjoy a 12-month holiday in each other’s country. They may undertake short-term work and study.
There are now 47 countries and regions participating in Australia’s Work and Holiday program.
Earlier this week, the Government announced as part of the Federal Budget 2022-23 that country caps for Work and Holiday visas will increase by 30% to support Australia’s economic future and the continued growth of the tourism sector. So far, the following country cap and age increases will take place on 1 July 2022:
- Slovak Republic – country cap increases from 200 to 1000 places
- Hungary and Austria – country cap increases from 200 to 500 places
- Italy and Denmark – age increases from 30 to 35 years
It is wonderful to see Australia open its doors to more working holiday makers under these new measures to support the post-pandemic recovery of Australia’s tourism and trade sectors.
