Since 23 February 2022, the Australian Government has granted over 3,000 visas to Ukrainians as part of the international response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Australian Government has implemented the following immigration initiatives:

The Department of Home Affairs is progressing applications from Ukrainians across all visa categories as a priority
The Prime Minister has announced that all Ukrainian nationals in Australia with a visa that is due to expire by 30 June 2022 will be given automatic visa extensions for six months. Visa holders do not need to do anything to receive this extension. The Department directly contacts visa holders in Australia who have visas expiring soon to make arrangements to remain in Australia.
