Tourists and Other International Travelers are Welcome Back

According to the Federal Government, Australia’s borders will reopen to all remaining visa holders on February 21, 2022. To enter Australia, visitors must be fully vaccinated. Visa holders who are not fully vaccinated will need a valid travel exemption and are subject to state and territory quarantine procedures.

At least 72 hours before travel, all inbound passengers must complete an Australia Travel Declaration (ATD). This must be done before the trip because it requires a vaccination status declaration.

The standards for isolation and testing haven’t changed, and the states are in charge of enforcing them. Please find further information on each state for travelers:

New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland,  South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory, Australian Capital Territory, Western Australia

Please check here to see requirements for reduced quarantine requirements.

Rapid Antigen Tests and PCR

All inbound travellers must still submit a COVID-19 test result that is negative, acceptable and taken within three days of the flight’s scheduled departure.

These tests can be one of two types:

  • A Nucleic Acid Amplification (NAA) test or,
  • Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test

The tests must be presented in an approved format, with more details found here. These improvements will ensure that Australians’ health is protected while maintaining economic recovery.

Please be advised that these restrictions are subject to changes at any time.
