Visa Application Charge Increases
The Australian Government announced a 3% increase in lodgement fees for almost all visa applications lodged on or after 1 July 2022. This increase is in line with the previously forecast Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase. The increases will be rounded to the closest to $5.00.
From 2017-18, the annual indexation of the VACs has been in accordance with the forecast CPI published annually in the Budget papers.
New visa application charges based on the increase for some common visa types are below:

A complete list of the visa application charge increases is published on the Department’s website here. The Migration Amendment (Visa Application Charges) Regulations 2022 gives effect to the increases in Visa Application Charges from 1 July 2022.
AAT Review Fee Increase
The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) has also announced that the fees for the review of Migration & Refugee decisions will increase from 1 July 2022.
- Application fee – review of decisions other than decisions relating to protection visas will increase from $3,000 to $3,153
- Application fee – review of Part 7-reviewable decisions relating to protection visas will increase from $1,846 to $1,940
