Western Australia
Western Australia has two streams for state nominations:
- General Stream
- Graduate Stream
The Western Australian skilled migration occupation list (WASMOL) lists occupations that are available for state nomination through the General stream. The list has been recently expanded to include Schedule 1 and Schedule 2.
Requirements for occupations listed on Schedule 1:
- currently residing in Australia
- show you have proficient English or competent English (requirement is based on your nominated occupation)
- must be able to claim at least 5 points for work experience (i.e., one year of Australian work experience or three years of overseas work experience)
- must have a contract of employment for full-time employment in WA for at least 12 months
Requirements for occupations listed on Schedule 2:
- currently residing in Australia
- show you have proficient English or competent English (requirement is based on your nominated occupation)
- must have a contract of employment for full-time employment in WA for at least 12 months
The main difference between Schedule 1 and 2 nomination requirements is that you do not have to demonstrate any work experience if your nominated occupation is on Schedule 2.
Please note that if your occupation is designated ‘Regional Western Australia only,’ you must have a job offer/employment contract in a location categorised as Category 3 Regional Centres and Other Regional Areas.
South Australia
South Australia will be opening state nominations for the subclass 188 Business Innovation, Investor & Significant Investor streams on Tuesday 20th July 2021. Applications for subclass 188 Entrepreneur stream will be opening in August (the exact date has yet to be confirmed).
SA is also removing two steps used previously in the application process. These are removing an exploratory visit to SA and removing the requirement to submit an Intention to Apply (ITA) form.
The exploratory visit was a requirement for some business and investment visas for an applicant to undertake a physical exploratory visit to South Australia, or be eligible for a virtual exploratory visit, before applying for state nomination.
Further information on the requirements for business & investments visas will be available on 20 July 2021.
In relation to SA’s Skilled Migration Nomination Program, further information will be provided soon.
